The Pottery Shack

Now converted into restaurants etc, the original Pottery Shack in Laguna as witnessed in the 1950's and 60's. It was finally converted in 2004. I believe in it's original incarnation, wares were made on site. I can still remember playing little league baseball, and battling it out with the shack. Only in Laguna would the matchup be Bill Thomas Camera vs. the Pottery Shack, followed by VFW (Veterans of Foreign War) vs. Hobie. I miss seeing all that pottery from PCH. Vessels are from 1960's over at 1st Dibs. The statue is of the Greeter Eiler Larsen, short story HERE.

  1. great post! you're right, pots were thrown right on the spot. bill darnell was one of the potters who threw there, he also sold his wares at the sawdust festival in the old days, and is now the ceramics teacher at the high school in laguna. love the old pics, and those are some killer pots!

  2. Yep, I went to LBHS as did both of my brothers (when it was the artists) all of us worked with Darnell.
