Laura Andreson

Today a post on renowned potter Laura Andreson. Andreson established the ceramics department at UCLA in 1934 and taught there until her retirement in 1970. Thats a lot of pots.
She was one of the first California studio potters to experiment and explore porcelain, which up to 1950 was mostly used in commercial products. She would become known as a leading West Coast authority on porcelain.

The Museum of Forgotten Art Supplies

From Drawger via the Design Observer comes the Museum of Forgotten Art Supplies. Some seem still relevant, at least to me, hopefully I have not been forgotten.

Sargadelos

Today a post on Sargadelos, the fantastic Porcelain production factory in Spain, in the Northern region of Galicia in the town of Lugo. Sargadelos was founded in 1806 and by 1830 was producing 20,000 pieces of chinaware a year. Today it is a company using new technology mixed with traditional Galician forms and decoration to create amazing work. The blood red coffee set was commissioned for the opening of the new New Museum on the Bowery in New York, and produced by Antonio Murado at Sargadelos. Very informative website HERE
